Ambleside Gem was a perfect location. Visiting family who live in the town. Very warm and cosy. Bus station a minutes walk away so off to Kendal, also highly recommend Hawkshead and a fabulous walk to Jenkyns Grag. Oh and the cinema! We had a lovely time here and were surprised by how peaceful it was, when so close to Ambleside. Cosy, spotlessly clean and comfy (just a bit dark when we arrived so hard to find key safe, also sister followed the earlier fork in the road and arrived at the back door, which would have been very confusing if she was first there, so directions might need clarifying)  We will definitely book this place again, it was a lovely home from home, perfect whether it was cold and raining or sunny and bright (we had both!) my partner and i had a lovely stay here just before the christmas rush. perfect location, close to the ferry, so much place filled with lots of amenities. we were thrilled when we saw the christmas decorations which made the place feel cosy in the evenings.  we will definitely be back next :)

Gorgeous place really well done. Loved the log fire. Feels really remote but is very close to Kendal. The final road on the approach to the property is single track with very few passing places - be prepared to reverse a good distance if you do manage to come across someone coming the other way (very quiet area so hopefully not a problem!)

Located in the heart of Ambleside the apartment is lovely, with three king sized beds each with their own ensuites. Clean and modern with great views over the town. A great find that we will return to. A few steps up to the apartment and unloading / parking a little more challenging as central but worth the extra 10mins.

This is the second time we styaed in this beautiful Flat and we will never stay anywhere else again. The location is ideal in the middle of ambleside with plenty of walks (And pubs!) right on your door step. The Smart lcoaks and ALexa check in are perfect and super easy to use and elimnate the taks of carriyng and worrying about keys. The balcony  is so special and i could have eaily spent half my trip on there ( If it wasnt for the weather). Overall the whole apartment is incredible, the kitchen facilites, the comfiest bed i have stayed on in a holiday rental and the samrt TV. We will 100000% Percent be back next year :)

The apartment was amazing, really spacious and modern. It was equipped with everything you could need for a short stay. it's located just in the city center with close proximity to the supermarkets, cafes and stores. The only minor problem was that the parking space, that was offered, was too far away from the unit but for us it wasn't a big deal, we managed to park closer for a couple of pounds.

We had a great time and were very comfortable for the two nights we stayed.  The kitchen and dining area was fully equipped and had everything we needed.  The bathrooms were lovely and updated and the linens were of high quality.  The location was right in the middle of everything but also very quiet and peaceful at night. Such a lovely week in grasmere. Not bothered about the gates to get there, only makes the experience more secluded and fun. Really great space, everything you need. Kitchen well equipped and views were great. Thanks for having us and the dog :)

This is a fabulous place to stay in Ambleside. It is very close to the centre and the parking space means you don't need to worry about getting into town. The property is very modern and clean and I felt very safe there. The instructions for getting there, getting in, finding things and how things work were very good. We were here in December and it was lovely and warm Great kitchen with plenty of space to prepare and store food with top quality appliances. I felt very at home here and will definitely stay here again

Extremely nice place in a peaceful part of the lakes. Nice and cosy living space for those rainy days. Easy access to good walking from the doorstep and close to Coniston for more adventurous hiking. The property is very well furnished and spacious for one or two  people. I strongly recommend this place. I hope to be back soon!

Absolutely fantastic four nights away! Perfect location - secluded, beautiful, incredible scenery but then a 20 minute walk to lovely village of Grasmere where we could finish up in the pub after a dog walk. We loved the house and it had everything we needed, also open-plan which suited the dogs so they felt immediately at home. Will be looking to book back in for next year to explore more of the Lake District and Cumbria! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

This was the loveliest stay, the flat was spacious, so clean and had everything you needed, the added touches of all the games, maps and decor made it feel so homely. Having two huge bathrooms with two showers and a bath felt like luxury! The location was perfect and quick walk down a little steep hill and you were in the centre of Ambleside. This was our second stay at this AirBnb, the first time being a few years ago. The flat is perfectly located for the town, and easy to get in and out of by car. The bathroom is good and very clean, with a spotless shower. The kitchen is well-equipped, we mostly bring our own food and can always find the right equipment to cook various things. Would definitely recommend.

Nice stay, good size and clean and tidy inside flat. Communal areas of the building are a little underwhelming and some finishing touches are not quite perfect but overall it’s good. You can hear conversations from local bars but it did go quiet by 11pm and wasn’t noticeable on all nights.

Overall the Airbnb was very nice and good value for money. We only found a couple of minor issues with the apartment; - A Pint glass had a large crack in it - one of the bedside shelves was falling off the wall and i was nervous it was gonna be ripped out the wall if you were to put a drink on it. - The main door to the apartment was fine, but it did still move by almost an inch when closed and locked, so It didn't feel the most secure. - The window blind in the bedroom was missing a part so the sunrise did come through in the mornings

We absolutely loved how central the flat is – there are so many great restaurants, pubs, and shops just a short stroll away. There are also plenty of lovely walking trails nearby, so once we arrived, we didn’t need to use the car at all. Having a free parking space was such a bonus too! As a few previous guests have mentioned, the central location does mean it can get a little noisy at times. You can sometimes hear bottles being emptied into the bins outside, and conversations from the street if you’re heading to bed early. A bit of extra sound insulation would make an already great place even better. The furniture could be a little comfier as well, but overall the flat is well-equipped, has everything you need, and stays nice and warm. We especially appreciated the coffee pod machine – such a lovely touch!

George was fantastic and even when I messaged with a query two days before Christmas, the reply was quick and then on Christmas Eve George went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. We had an OK stay. The place was well decorated and the location was superb. Location and check in - You cannot get any more central than this location in Ambleside. It was however quite difficult to find the place in the dark as Google maps doesn't really have the address registered. Check in was unusually late at 4pm and check out was unusually early at 10am. We asked if we could check out a bit later and was told that it would cost £20 per hour for later checkout. Cleanliness - The cleanliness of the place was a bit lacking. The underside of the toilet seat had fresh stains on it that we had to clean ourselves on arrival. There was also a persistent sewage smell emanating from the bathroom which is mentioned in the other reviews Comfort - The bed was extremely creaky and as mentioned by other guests, you would hear businesses emptying dozens of glass bottles into the bin late at night which did wake us up a few times. Parking was not easy in a very tight space.

A really handy location right in the heart of Ambleside, a parking space is also incredibly helpful. The lockbox is borderline impossible to use as I note other reviewers found, hopefully this will be replaced. Kitchen and lounge were comfortable and well appointed, the heating kept everything cozy with ease during cold November weather and everything was clean throughout. Not the ideal spot for light sleepers, you can hear people up and down the stairs in the building, glass recycling from the pubs and the blinds don’t block out as much light as curtains would. The shower was hot and decent pressure, good WiFi and overall did us well for a long weekend!

Always love a trip to Ambleside and this property seemed ideal for us. Our hosts had thought of things to make the stay comfortable such as tea, coffee, milk, sugar, oil for cooking, salt and pepper as well as blankets to keep cosy in the living room and a very clear guide for things to do, places to eat and information about the area, available digitally and on paper which also included all of the instruction manuals so everything was really easy. The Amazon Alexa for check in and out was also useful. Although we encountered problems with the property not being clean when we arrived our hosts were very responsive and dealt with this swiftly and were very apologetic. As said in other reviews some TLC and a bed/frame that doesn’t make noises whenever you move would make a difference here. We ended up using an air freshener when we were there because of a strange smell that seemed to come from the bathroom drains. Unfortunately these things impacted our stay. Good central location.

A lovely stay in a lovely apartment. The apartment was really spacious, tastefully decorated, had gorgeous views of the surrounding fells & was in a great, central spot in Ambleside! Like other reviews have previously mentioned, it was a little noisy. The building itself was echoey & you could hear noise from local pubs but it wasn’t enough to keep us up and certainly didn’t ruin our stay - just something to be aware of. The guide/info for the apartment was really helpful, check-in & check-out was smooth. Cleanliness was acceptable but some areas would have benefitted from a little more attention. Overall a fab stay in a great spot, we would recommend :)

A lovely spot central to Ambleside. Easy to access town and some local walks. Check in and out we’re easy and well communicated. The keys take a bit of jiggling to get to work but other than that everything was great. Nice and clean with fresh towels and bedsheets. Would stay again!

Everything about this property was very good and I would have given it an Excellent rating but it be for a few 'niggles' which were more annoying than an issue. There was no toilet roll in the bathroom. As everything else was provided with a good eye for detail, I assume this was just an oversight by the cleaner. There is a local Tesco adjacent to the property so this wasn't really a big deal, but just a bit of a nuisance. The keybox for entry from the car park could be better labelled as there are 4 of them alongside each other and only No 1 is labelled. The lock from the main street is very fiddly and takes a few attempts to get it to work. The lock to the apartment itself is also a bit fiddly. The car park space is tight for a bigger car, but in central Ambleside any dedicated parking is a big bonus. If it was just tidied up a bit with the overgrowth of vegetation cut back so that the low walls are more easily visible then that would make a big difference to parking.

The apartment itself was amazing the owners obviously take pride in it and well maintain the place, however while there due to the parking my car was scraped due to the tight proximity and the amount of vans pulling through the small gap, it’s loud and hard to sleep as it’s next to a pizza place but in the middle of a town I expected noise, on the last night my partner came across one of the workers from the pizza place smoking weed on the stair case and we could smell it in our room which was not pleasant, despite that we had an amazing stay it was clean and well located.

It’s a decent enough place in Ambleside with its own parking. A bit more attention to detail would really help. E.g. the bathroom door does not latch - just requires 10 mins of a carpenter’s time. The self-closing door from the hall creaks sufficiently loudly to wake up the other person in the night - change it! The bathroom was musty but this cleared after being occupied- dirty cloths? The bed creaks when either person moves…….. the chiller unit on the ground floor needs a service as it loudly switches on throughout the night. If this were anywhere else but overbooked Ambleside it would not attract the price that it does.
